CONTRIBUTOR GUIDELINES
The goal of publishing contributions to the SCHUBERT/USA web site is to stimulate a vital exchange of ideas among readers about any aspect of the life and work of Franz Schubert and about subsequent scholarship, performance history, reception history, reviews of recent CDs, books and performances anywhere, personal explorations of Schubert, and so on. Our web site is English-only; no translation services are offered. The editorial intent is to be interdisciplinary in content and coverage. The submissions that will be considered are those that are well written in a thoughtful, analytical style that indicates a seriousness in communicating ideas or sharing research as well as relating experiences of interest from professional and nonprofessional performers, composers, reviewers, writers, teachers, and listeners to our readers. Other categories may reveal themselves to the editor over time and will be vetted for appropriateness. If you are not certain of what category of interest your submission falls into, send it in and we can discuss it – briefly.
Submissions will be rejected for sloppy, awkward, ungrammatical, and illogical writing. Please use your SpellCheck and GrammarCheck; British spelling is OK and needs no rewrite to conform to American spelling. Obscene, insulting, inflammatory or intemperate language is totally unacceptable, and I’ll be the final say-so on this. These pages are not intended for personal vendettas, political statements or other non-Schubert-related material. You may be asked to rewrite what is a potentially worthy contribution. I will try to spare all of us any needless embarrassment. Again, as the moderator and editor, my decision is final. That decisional authority will rest as well with any other editor who joins our ranks.
